What if your clothing choices were kind?

Hi Reader –

Bringing kindness to our clothing choices may seem like a strange idea or nothing more than a drop in the bucket.

But we have to remember that the clothes we decided to wear this morning stick with us for the whole day. The clothing we decide to purchase lives in our homes for the foreseeable future. An overwhelming pile of clothing we decide to donate, now overwhelms someone else.

Each decision we make ripples through our lives and the lives of the people around us. Even when it just feels like a drop in the bucket.

So, what if you made kind clothing choices?

A kind clothing decision could be something like...

While an unkind decision could look like...

Next time you make a clothing decision ask...

What would a kind decision feel like? What would a kind decision look like?

Hi Reader – Where I am, today’s temperature has a low almost at 0ºF (-17°C), and a high well below freezing, so I am delighting in having access to a wood stove (in addition to the centralized heating). Between snowy woods out the window, a red fox hanging around, and sipping tea by a warm fire it’s all charmingly picturesque. But this email is not about how flipping cold it is (should I do something about dressing well in the cold?). This is about building, transforming, and getting started....

Hi Reader – A reader sent in a question asking: which styes (boho, classic, preppy, edgy, etc), are best suited to which body types (hourglass, apple, pear, rectangle, triangle, etc)? She said "All the styles that seem to suit my body type, I don’t really like (eg, classic, preppy), and the styles I like (eg, boho, edgy, etc) don’t really work with my body style. It’s a struggle that I am tired of fighting..." She had her specific styles and body type, but I hope these suggestions will also...

Hi Reader – "Fashion is a trend. Style lives within a person." –Oscar de la Renta I was talking with a friend the other day, and she made a comment that for a personal stylist I don't talk a lot about style. Or fashion. And she's right. I talk a lot about clothes instead. Because when it comes to personal style, your clothes are your tools, and you closet is your toolbox. I don't know if you've spent much time in shops or studios, but every tool generally has a home. And there's a striving...
